How your export from Europe works
Step 1
We receive your shipment information
To prepare an accurate freight quotation, we first collect the basic shipment details, including:
- Commodity type
- Total cargo weight
- Container type (20ft, 40ft standard, 40ft high cube, reefer)
- For LCL shipments:cargo dimensions (L× W× H)
- Loading address if goods are purchased
- EXW from your supplier
- Port of loading if goods are purchased FOB
- Port of discharge
Step 2
You receive a clear export freight offer
We then provide our best available option, including:
- EXW or FOB freight rate
- Selected carrier and routing
- Estimated transit time
- First possible loading window
All quotations are issued with a clearly defined scope, so you know exactly what is included.
Step 3
You confirm the shipment
Once you finalise your purchase and confirm the shipment with us, we request:
- Commercial invoice
- Packing list
If you purchase from multiple European suppliers, we need the invoice and packing list from each seller. From this point onward, we coordinate everything on your behalf.
Step 4
We plan the pick up with your EU supplier
After receiving the documents, bluegate:
- Contacts your suppliers directly
- Plans pickup schedules
- Arranges export customs clearance (EX-A) documentation in Europe
You do not need to coordinate with truckers, warehouses, or customs agents separately.
Step 5
Your cargo is loaded
Once your supplier confirms cargo readiness and provides the loading reference:
- We arrange pickup from your supplier or warehouse
- Deliver the cargo to bthe selected port of loading
- Coordinate container loading and vessel departure
Step 6
Confirming Draft Bill of Lading
Before sailing, we share the draft Bill of Lading with you for review and confirmation.
This ensures all shipment details including cargo details, as well as shipper and consignee details are correct before documents are finalised.
Step 7
Sailing, invoicing, and documents
After the vessel departs:
- You receive the freight invoice
- Upon payment, we issue the original Bill of Lading or telex release
- Tracking details are shared so you can follow the shipment to the destination port
At this stage, your cargo is on its way and ready for import clearance upon arrival.
